אִימְּרָה, (אִימְּרָא) h. f. (v. preced.) 1) fringe, border, skirt; trnsf. the bordered garment, (toga prætexta), state garment. Taan. 11ᵇ; Ab. Zar. 34ᵃ חלוק לבן שאין בו אימרא a white plain frock without border (without official distinction; cmp. toga pura). Y. Kil. IX, 32ᵃ top; Tosef. ib. V, 19 א׳ (ה)מפורסמת a conspicuous border garment. Y. Kidd. IV, beg. 65ᵇ (play on אִמֵּר Ezra II, 59) פירסמו וכ׳ they made themselves as conspicuous as the border on the frock. Sabb. 105ᵃ; Tosef. ib. XII (XIII), 1.—Y. Yoma I, 38ᵈ top; Y. Meg.
