אֵימְתָן, אֵימִתָנָא, אֵימָ׳ m. (denom. of אימתא) 1) fear-inspiring, powerful. Targ. Jud. III, 30.—Pl. אֵימְתָנִין, אֵימְתָנֵי, אֵימָ׳. Targ. Ḥab. I, 7. Targ. Gen. XIV, 5 (Y. II, אמתניא, h. text אֵימִים). —2) timid. Y. Meg. III, 74ᵃ bot. ספרא הוה אימתן וכ׳ (ed. Krot. אימהן, corr. acc.) the school-master was a timid man and but for R.
