אַחְוָונָא m. (v. אַחְוָא) 1) meadow-grass, grass (as fodder). Y. Ber. VI, 10ᵃ, bot. —2) willow-twigs used for kindling, kindling wood. Sabb. 20ᵃ (explain. אָח Jer. XXXVI, 23; v. אַחֲוָה 1, end) אַחְוָונָא (Var. אַחְוָנָא) willow-fire. Ib. one cried מאן בעי א׳ וכ׳ who wants Aḥvana?, and it was found he had willow twigs for sale. —3) willow-bast.
