בִּיטּוּי, בִּטּוּי m. (בטי) vain, useless talk, ref. to vows and oaths which neither benefit nor injure anybody; שבועת ב׳ a useless oath, contrad. to ש׳ שוא a false oath or one asserting something impossible. Shebu. III, 9 sq. Ib. 49ᵇ; B. Mets. 36ᵃ an oath imposed in court אין בה משום שבועת ב׳ does not come under the law of vain oaths (as to sacrifices).
