גִּיד m. (b. h.; גּוּד) thread, chord, sinew, artery, tendon.—ג׳ הַנָּשֶׁה (b. h.) nervus ischiadicus. Ḥull. VII, 1 גיד הנ׳ נוהג וכ׳ the law concerning the nervus ischiadicus (Gen. XXXII, 33) applies &c. Ib. 89ᵇ, a. fr. איסור ג׳ (sub. הנשה) the prohibitory law concerning &c.—Euphem. membrum virile. Kidd. 25ᵃ.—Pl. גִּידִים, גִּידִין, constr. גִּידֵי. Ḥull. VII, 5. Ib. 100ᵇ, a. fr. אין בג׳ בנ"ט the rule for mixtures of forbidden and permitted things to be decided by taste-giving quantities applies not to tendons. Ib. 90ᵇ ג׳ צואר the blood vessels of the throat, contrad. to ג׳ בשר soft tendons.—Y. Meg. I, 17ᵈ top תופרין בג׳ the T’fillin are sewed with threads of dried tendons.—Gen.
