גִּידּוּל, גִּדוּל m. (גדל) 1) rearing of children. Snh. 19ᵇ צער ג׳ בנים the trouble of rearing children; Gen. R. s. 20; Erub. 100ᵇ —2) growth. Ber. VI, 3 דבר שאין גִּדּוּלוֹ וכ׳ (Y. ed. גִּידּוּלָיו pl.) whatever does not grow out of the soil (animal food &c.); a. fr.—Pl. גִּידּוּלִין, constr. גִּידּוּלֵי. Y. ib. V, 9ᶜ top דרך גִּידּוּלֵיהֶן the way they grow, v. גְּדִילָה.—Ned. VII, 6 אסור בחלופיהן (ובגִידּ׳) וּבגִדּוּלֵיהֶן it is forbidden to eat or enjoy what has been exchanged for the fruits or what has grown of their seeds. Ib. גידולי ג׳ growths of the second degree. Y.
