גָּדִיל m. (b. h.; גדל II) 1) pl. גְּדִילִים, גְּדִילִין twisted threads, fringes, v. צִיצִית. Men. 39ᵇ; Yeb. 5ᵇ גדיל שנים ג׳ ארבעה gadil (a twist) means at least two threads, g’dilim means four threads (which doubled make eight). Sifré Num. 115; a. e. —2) twist, table-cloth. B. Bath. 57ᵇ שני שלישי ג׳ … גלוי וכ׳ Ar. a. Ms. O. (ed. גלאי) two thirds of the width of the table covered and one third uncovered for putting on dishes and vegetables.
