גָּדַשׁ to heap up, to put up stacks of grain. Pes. 56ᵃ; Men. 71ᵃ גּוֹדְשִׁין לפני העומר they put the stacks of grain up before offering the Omer (v. עוֹמֶר); Tosef. Pes. II (III), 19 (corr. acc.). Tosef. B. Kam. VI, 24 השאילו לִגְדּוֹשׁ … וגָ׳ וכ׳ if he lent him a spot to pile wheat on it, and he piled barley; a. fr.—2) to give heaped measure, opp. מחק to strike. B. Bath. V, 11 where the usage is למחוק לא יִגְדּוֹש וכ׳ to strike grain, one must not heap (even for special remuneration) &c.; a. fr.—Part. pass. גָּדוּשׁ, f. גְּדוּשָׁה, brimful, overflowing, heaped. Tam. V, 4. Yoma 48ᵃ גְּדוּשׁוֹת, v. טָפַף I. Gen. R. s. 22 חטאו … ג׳ ומְגוּדָּשׁ the measure of thy sin is heaped to excess.—Sabb. 153ᵇ; Tosef. ib. I, 17; Y. ib. I, 3ᶜ (את ה)סאה בו ביום גָּדְשׁוּ on that day (of rabbinical enactments) they overfilled the measure (of laws).
Nif. - נִגְדַּשׁ to be heaped up, to tower up. Men. IX, 5 היו נִגְדָּשׁוֹת were heaped, v. גּוֹדֶשׁ. Sot. 34ᵃ the waters נִגִדָּשִׁין ועולין rose more and more.
