דּוֹפִי f. (b. h. דֹּפִי , דָּפִי; r. דָּפָה to strike against, damage; cmp. דפן) damage to reputation (cmp. meanig of גָּדַף), taint, reproach. Yoma 22ᵇ לא היה בו שום ד׳ no reproach rested on Saul’s descent. Tem. 15ᵇ; Tosef. B. Kam. VIII, 13; a. fr.—Snh. 99ᵇ הגדות של ד׳; v. דָּרַשׁ.—Pes. 30ᵇ earthen ware אינו יוצא מידי דוֹפְיוֹ לעולם (Ms. O. מדפנו, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 50; Ab. Zar. 34ᵃ דופנו, Ms. M. דָּפְיוֹ) can never get rid of its defect (once made unclean, it cannot be cleansed by any process, v. תַּקָּנָה).
