הֶיקֵּף, הֶיקֵּיף, הֶקֵּיף, הֶקֵּף m. (נקף II) 1) circumference, surface. Y. Erub. VII, beg. 24ᵇ ה׳ תשעים וכ׳ a circumference of ninety &c. Sabb. 20ᵃ רוב הֶיקֵּפוֹ the larger portion of the surface of the wood (burning), opp. רוב עביו. Succ. 7ᵇ אם יש בהֶקֵּיפָהּ וכ׳ if there is room enough in the circumference of a round Succah to seat &c. Erub. I, 5, a. e. כל שיש בהיקפו וכ׳ whatever (circle) has a circumference of three hand-breadths, has a width (diameter) of one. B. Bath. 13ᵇ כדי לגול ה׳ enough (blank parchment) to be wrapt around the entire rolled-up scroll. Ib. 14ᵃ קשיא הקף this is in contradiction to what has been said above ‘enough to be wrapt &c.’; a. fr. —2) outstanding debt, v. הַקָּפָה. Tosef. B. Mets.
