זָקִיתָא f. (זקק) [the transparent one, cmp. זְבוּגָא,] chamæleon (v. Sm. Ant. s. v.). Snh. 108ᵇ ed. (Ms. M. זקותא, Ms. F. רקיתא); Yalk. Gen. 59 (some ed. רקיתא). [Mus. derives our w. fr. זיקא, cmp. זַוְקָאנָא, the chamæleon being believed to live on air.]
