זוֹגָא, זוֹג, זוּגָא I ch. = h. זוּג 1) pair, couple, team, set. Targ. II Kings IX, 25. Targ. Jud. XVII, 10 זוג לבושין a set of garments; a. e.—בַּר זוֹג match, wife. Targ. Y. II, Gen. II, 18; a. e.—Snh. 43ᵃ מסרינן ליה ז׳ דרבנן we give him two scholars (to escort him); Yoma 85ᵇ (Ms. M. זָוָוא). Y. Ḥag. II, 78ᵃ top כל דמטי יחכום זוּגֵיה whosoever has a chance shall select his partner (as if for a dance); a. fr.—Pl. זוּגֵי. Pes. 110ᵃ Ashm’dai … is appointed אכולהו ז׳ overseer of all even numbers (of cups &c., which were believed to invite dangers); a. e.—Keth. 71ᵃ, v. זָוָוא I.—Sot. 13ᵇ דיו ז׳, v. דְּיוּזוּגֵי. —2) (cmp. above זוג לבושין, a. זְוַד) an outfit for travelling, travelling cloak.
