חָנוּת f. (b. h.; חָנָה) tent, esp. tradesman’s shop, tavern; meat-market &c. Tosef. Pes. I (II), 19; Pes. 31ᵇ. Ab. III, 16 הח׳ פתוחה וכ׳ the shop is open, the shop-keeper gives on credit, i.e. man has free volition and Providence is long-suffering &c.—Gitt. 67ᵃ ח׳ מיוזנת well-stocked shop (a man of vast learning and readiness), v. יָזַן.
