חוֹלֶה m. (b. h. חֹלֶה; חָלָה) sick; a patient. Ber. 10ᵃ לך ובקר את הח׳ go and visit the sick (King). Ib. 54ᵇ מי שהיה ח׳ וכ׳ he who has been sick and recovered. Ib. bot. ח׳ חתן וכ׳ a sick person, a bridegroom &c.; a. v. fr.—Pl. חוֹלִים, חוֹלִין. Cant. R. to II, 5 ח׳ מן השעבוד suffering from oppression. Gitt. 28ᵃ, a. fr. רוב ח׳ לחיים the majority of the sick recover again. Ib. 61ᵃ מבקרין חוֹלֵי נכרים וכ׳ you are bound to visit the sick of the gentile community alike with &c.; a. fr.—ביקור ח׳, v. בִּיקּוּר.—Fem. חוֹלָה. Sot. 36ᵇ ח׳ היא that she was sick.—Midr.
