חוּשׁ II (b. h.; v. preced.) [to feel, press,] 1) to feel pain, be affected. Erub. 54ᵃ חָשׁ בראשו if one has a head-ache; ח׳ בגרונו one whose throat is affected; a. fr. —2) to apprehend, consider. Y. Peah V, 18ᵈ bot. וחש לומר וכ׳ but then he reconsidered saying &c.—Ex. R. s. 3 אל תָּחוּשׁ do not mind it. —3) to be anxious, quick, to hurry. Y. Yeb. VIII, 9ᶜ top (play on ח̇וש̇ים … ב̇ע̇ר̇א, I Chr. VIII, 8) ח̇ש̇ כנמר וב̇יא̇ר̇ וכ׳ he was quick like a panther and made clear &c. —4) to think, be silent, v. חָשָׁה.—V. חָשַׁשׁ.
