לְוָיָה, לְוָיָיה f. (לָוָה) escort, company, esp. the traveller’s escort for protection. Sot. IX, 6 והנחנוהו בלא ל׳ and we let him (the stranger) go without protection; (Y. ib. IX, 23ᵈ bot. הלוייה).
