Review the application process for accessibility barriers
Evaluate Berean's current admissions application and give us a prioritized list of accessibility problems to resolve before prospective students begin using it.
Location and volunteer status
Unpaid volunteer opportunity. You choose whether to participate and may stop volunteering. No wages or future paid position are promised. The assignment describes the work, expected effort, supervision and any approved expense reimbursement before you accept.
Remote. Work and meetings take place online. No routine travel or in-person attendance is required. Any exception will be stated in the opportunity and agreed before you accept. Please review any location or work-eligibility requirements listed for this particular role.
What Berean needs
Identify accessibility problems before applicants encounter them.
Berean is preparing the first public version of its admissions application. The core flow is working, but it needs an accessibility review before prospective students begin relying on it.
We need someone to review the application from the opening screen through final submission and identify barriers that could prevent or unnecessarily complicate completion for applicants using keyboards, assistive technology, zoom, or other accessibility features.
Why this matters
The admissions application will be one of Berean's first major interactions with prospective students.
Applicants should not have to discover preventable accessibility problems while trying to submit an application.
Completing this review gives Berean a concrete remediation list before the application becomes part of the public admissions process.
What you'll do
Review the complete application flow and return a prioritized findings document.
- Work through the full application using the testing scope Berean provides.
- Check keyboard access, focus behavior, form labeling, validation, error handling, zoom/responsive behavior, and other relevant accessibility concerns.
- Identify issues that meaningfully affect an applicant's ability to understand or complete the form.
- Record reproducible findings in Berean's supplied review template.
- Organize findings by practical remediation priority rather than producing a generic audit score.
This may be a good fit if
You have practical experience evaluating digital accessibility.
You have evaluated websites, applications, or forms for accessibility issues.
You can use WCAG concepts as a practical reference when identifying problems.
You can describe an issue so another person can reproduce and understand it.
You can distinguish meaningful barriers from minor preferences or cosmetic issues.
You do not need a particular accessibility credential for this Project. Berean is looking for demonstrated practical ability appropriate to the work.
What Berean provides
You will not be expected to reconstruct the Project on your own.
- Access to the current admissions application test environment.
- The defined application flow and review scope.
- Current interface references and known constraints.
- A structured findings template.
- A Berean contact who can answer questions about intended behavior.
You're finished when
The agreed application flow has been reviewed and the findings are returned.
This Project is complete when Berean receives the accessibility findings document covering the agreed application flow and confirms that the defined review scope has been addressed.
About the commitment
This is a finite Project.
We estimate the work at approximately 8–12 hours, depending on your review method and the number of issues you identify.
The requested completion date is October 15.
Once the agreed review is complete and Berean confirms receipt, your commitment to this Project ends.
Expressing interest does not commit you to take the Project. Berean will review fit first. If we would like to offer you the assignment, you will have a separate opportunity to review the details and decide whether to accept.
