Build With Berean

Help build a rigorous path into biblical scholarship for serious learners who need another way in.

Berean is building an ecosystem around accessible biblical scholarship. At its center, Berean Institutes is developing rigorous, affordable biblical education for learners who may not be able to afford, access, or reorganize their lives around a traditional seminary or academic program.

Years of work have brought Berean to the edge of launch. What comes next requires responsibilities one person cannot—and should not—carry alone.

Why Berean Is Worth Building

Serious biblical scholarship should not belong only to people who can afford the traditional path.

Advanced biblical study often asks more than intellectual ability. It can require substantial tuition, admission through traditional academic pathways, fixed schedules, institutional access, and years structured around a degree.

Berean Institutes is being built for serious learners who want rigorous academic work but need a different route into it.

The goal is not to lower the academic standard. It is to lower unnecessary barriers to reaching it.

Access Without Academic Dilution

Make the path more accessible. Keep the work serious.

Berean's academic model is designed to reduce financial and structural barriers without replacing scholarship with simplified religious instruction.

Affordable by Design

Berean's program model is designed so students can finance their education out of pocket rather than requiring the cost structure of a conventional graduate degree.

Completion Can Earn Tuition Back

Berean seeks sponsorship support on behalf of students. Under the completion-reward model, qualifying support can be used to return tuition students invested after they complete their program.

Serious Academic Work

Students are expected to research, analyze evidence, work with demanding material, defend conclusions, and meet defined academic standards.

Evidence Before Agreement

Berean's Transparent Emphasis makes its scholarly perspective visible while requiring evidence-led judgment, fair treatment of competing interpretations, and no academic penalty merely for doctrinal disagreement.

More Than Academic Programs

Much of what Berean builds is meant to be available beyond the classroom.

Berean Institutes is the academic institution within a broader ecosystem that also includes public scholarship, reference resources, discussion, publishing, and other initiatives intended to make serious biblical study more accessible.

Open Reference Library

A free public Bible-reference and study-resource environment designed without advertising barriers.

JBAH

The Journal of Biblical Antiquity and Heritage is being developed as a scholarly publication with protected editorial authority and public access to its work.

Public Forum

A planned public environment for serious religious argument, disagreement, and debate within an established structure.

Public Scholarship

Biblical, historical, linguistic, cultural, and scholarly information intended for people well beyond Berean Institutes' enrolled students.

Work Already Underway

You would not be joining an idea.

Much of Berean's academic system, organizational planning, governance framework, public-resource architecture, and technical foundation already exists. The work is moving from design and construction toward staffing, integration, fundraising, testing, and launch.

Academic Programs

Four program curricula and substantial supporting academic work have already been developed.

Governance & Policies

Governance structures, institutional policies, recruitment materials, and operating frameworks have been developed for launch.

Digital Infrastructure

Student, course, public-resource, administrative, automation, and other technical systems have already been substantially built.

Public Initiatives

The Open Reference Library, JBAH, Public Forum, and related public-facing work are already part of the launch foundation.

The Next Step Requires People

Berean began as one person's vision. It cannot remain one person's organization.

Years of work have created responsibilities that should belong to qualified people with the judgment and authority to carry them: independent governance, scholarship, executive leadership, marketing, fundraising, administration, finance, editorial judgment, and more.

There is also practical work still standing between Berean and launch. Some of it requires continuing service. Some of it simply needs someone who knows how to help us finish a specific task.

We need your help.

A Message from the Founder

I have taken Berean as far as I should take it alone.

I started with a vision and spent years turning it into academic programs, systems, policies, public resources, research, governance structures, and plans for an organization that can actually operate.

But building something alone is not the same as being qualified to control every part of it. Academic judgment belongs with qualified scholars. Corporate governance belongs with the Board. Executive, editorial, financial, marketing, fundraising, and administrative responsibilities need people prepared to exercise their own professional judgment.

I am not looking for assistants to preserve everything exactly as I designed it. I am looking for people willing to examine what is here, improve what needs improving, take responsibility for work that belongs in their hands, and help Berean become something that no longer depends on me to make every meaningful decision.

If you believe what Berean is building is worth finishing, I hope you will consider helping us finish it.

Keith
Founder, Berean

How You Can Help

Help once. Serve over time. Or bring us something we did not know to ask for.

There is no single right way to contribute. Choose the kind of commitment that actually fits what you can give.

Berean can accept volunteers only from people who live in Colorado, Nebraska or Texas.

Responding does not commit you to serve. Offering help or expressing interest begins a conversation so you and Berean can determine whether the opportunity is a good fit.

Finite Help

Help Us Launch

Help Berean accomplish one specific piece of pre-launch work. Each opportunity will tell you what needs to be done, why it matters, what skill is needed, the expected effort, and when the job is finished.

If you help us once, we will not treat that generosity as permission to keep asking for more.

Sustained Service

Take continuing responsibility.

Berean is recruiting people for continuing executive, governance, scholarly, editorial, administrative, financial, marketing, and fundraising responsibilities.

These are working volunteer roles with defined responsibilities, real accountability, and professional authority where the role requires it.

Another Way to Help

What you can offer is not listed?

You may have expertise, a useful skill, a professional relationship, an introduction, a resource, or another legitimate contribution Berean did not know to request.

Tell us what you can offer. Offering help does not obligate you to provide it, and Berean may need to determine fit before accepting it.

Where You May Fit

Eight areas need continuing responsibility.

These pages contain the detailed responsibilities, qualifications, authority, workload, professional-service information, and next steps for each sustained volunteer opportunity.

Public recruitment for sustained roles remains open through December 1, 2026. If you encountered an opportunity during the public recruitment period, you may submit an Expression of Interest through January 1, 2027.

Continuing Service

Volunteer work should not disappear into an organizational black hole.

Berean intends to support sustained volunteers with defined responsibilities, workable recurring service rhythms, useful feedback, meaningful appreciation, and visibility into what the organization is actually accomplishing.

Know your responsibility Understand what belongs to you, what authority comes with it, and where the boundaries are.
Build a workable rhythm Establish a predictable pattern for service without inventing schedule restrictions the work does not actually require.
Get useful feedback Know where questions go, how problems are raised, and whether the work is accomplishing what it should.
See what moved Follow the progress your work joins instead of wondering whether anything happened after you contributed.

Professional Service

How Berean Values Professional Service

Berean's publicly advertised sustained professional volunteer roles use the same general compensation philosophy across positions. Current professional-service benchmarks are valued at approximately the 70th percentile of comparable national U.S. compensation and expressed as hourly benchmarks for documented professional-service hours.

The benchmark represents the professional value assigned to the service. Actual compensation is not guaranteed and depends on Berean's established nonprofit compensation process and available uncommitted funds after operating expenses and other obligations have been met. Before service begins, each agreement records how the role is lawfully engaged and any guaranteed amount or rate; contingent payment never replaces wages required by law.

This professional-service framework applies to the sustained professional volunteer roles advertised by Berean. One-time Help Us Launch projects are outside the framework.

If there is a part of this work you can help carry, we would like to hear from you.

Take on continuing responsibility, help us finish one specific piece of launch work, or tell us about another contribution you believe could move Berean forward.
