Build With Berean · Marketing Leadership
Turn Berean's public resources into sustained audience growth.
Berean has already built major audience-attraction mechanisms: public research resources, a scholarly Journal initiative, the Public Forum, technical infrastructure, and substantial supporting work. It now needs an experienced marketing leader who can turn those assets into coherent audience acquisition, engagement, retention, and conversion across the broader Berean ecosystem.

The Responsibility
Build a marketing system around assets that already exist.
Berean's challenge is no longer simply creating things worth finding. The Marketing Director is responsible for helping the right audiences discover them, return to them, engage with them, and move through clear pathways into deeper participation with Berean.
The work is to turn substantial public-facing assets into a disciplined, measurable, and sustained audience-growth strategy.
Location
Remote. Work and meetings take place online. No routine travel or in-person attendance is required. Any exception will be stated in the opportunity and agreed before you accept. Please review any location or work-eligibility requirements listed for this particular role.
Marketing Scope
Lead Berean's Board-level Marketing branch.
Marketing is one of Berean's branches directly under the Board of Directors. The Marketing Director leads that branch and is responsible for integrating Berean's marketing initiatives across the ecosystem. The role is not subordinate to either incoming co-founder.
Develop and manage strategies for bringing qualified new audiences into Berean's public ecosystem.
Create pathways that help audiences move from first contact into meaningful use of Berean's resources and initiatives.
Build systems that encourage appropriate audiences to return, remain connected, and deepen their relationship with Berean.
Plan, execute, coordinate, and evaluate campaigns across Berean's public-facing initiatives.
Determine how Berean's public resources, Journal content, programs, events, and other initiatives reach the audiences most likely to value them.
Design and refine the pathways by which audience attention becomes appropriate next-step action across Berean.
Establish useful measures, interpret performance, and use evidence to improve campaigns, audience development, and conversion strategy.
Coordinate marketing strategy across Berean so that individual initiatives reinforce one another rather than compete for attention or operate in isolation.
Major Launch Assets
The Marketing branch begins with substantial public-facing assets.
Several of Berean's strongest audience-attraction mechanisms are already designed or substantially built. The incoming Marketing Director will be responsible for using them strategically rather than creating a marketing proposition from nothing.
Open Reference Library
The Open Reference Library sits within Marketing's delegated authority. The Marketing Director determines how this free resource attracts, serves, retains, and connects audiences to the broader Berean ecosystem.
Public Forum
Marketing holds delegated authority over the Public Forum's audience development, promotion, engagement, participation pathways, and marketing performance. Substantive moderation, debate adjudication, or other responsibilities formally assigned elsewhere do not transfer to Marketing merely because the Forum is a major audience-development initiative.
JBAH
Marketing controls JBAH's audience development, promotion, distribution, campaigns, engagement, conversion, and marketing analytics within its delegated authority. The Editorial Board separately controls scholarly publication decisions.
Authority Boundary
Marketing has delegated authority over its domain without absorbing authority assigned elsewhere.
Berean's Marketing branch has real Board-delegated operating responsibility for audience development and growth. That authority remains distinct from professional, scholarly, moderation, or adjudicative responsibilities formally delegated to other people or bodies.
Marketing controls how JBAH reaches and develops its audience; the Editorial Board controls what JBAH publishes as scholarship. Marketing leads audience development for the Public Forum without automatically becoming the authority for substantive moderation or debate adjudication.
What You Inherit
This is not a blank marketing plan.
The incoming Marketing Director begins with substantial existing work: Berean's platform, public resources, JBAH initiative, Public Forum concept and system, Open Reference Library, page architecture, research, technical infrastructure, automation, and other launch work already developed.
Existing work is a starting point, not a protected artifact. The Marketing Director is expected to review what has been built, identify weaknesses and missed opportunities, and improve it professionally.
Candidate Fit
Berean needs a marketing leader, not simply a campaign executor.

- Experience growing audiences around educational, scholarly, publishing, nonprofit, or mission-driven content.
- Experience integrating free public resources into broader acquisition and conversion strategy.
- Strong digital-distribution and content-marketing experience.
- Experience building marketing systems for organizations with multiple audiences or initiatives.

- Professional-service benchmark
- $99.27/hour
- Market standard
- Berean currently values eligible professional service at approximately the 70th percentile of comparable national U.S. compensation.
- Actual compensation
- The benchmark represents the professional value of the service performed. Actual compensation is determined through Berean's established nonprofit compensation process based on available uncommitted funds after operating expenses and other obligations have been met.
Early-stage compensation: the $99.27 hourly benchmark should not be read as a guaranteed wage or guaranteed payment schedule. Actual compensation remains dependent on Berean's available funding and financial capacity. Before service begins, your agreement records how the role is lawfully engaged and any guaranteed amount or rate. Any payment dependent on available funds is distinguished from a guaranteed payment, and no provision waives legally required wages or other mandatory protections.
Next Step
Express Interest in Marketing Leadership.
If your experience fits the role, introduce yourself and the marketing work you have led. The initial submission should include your contact information, résumé or CV, relevant leadership experience, and a short statement describing your experience with audience growth, campaigns, digital marketing, analytics, or multi-channel marketing strategy.
Berean will publicly recruit for this role through December 1, 2026. If you discover the opportunity during that period, you do not need to make a rushed decision: Expressions of Interest remain open through January 1, 2027.
An expression of interest begins a professional conversation. It is not an acceptance of the role or a commitment to serve.
