Build With Berean · Scholarly Publication

Help establish a scholarly journal whose editorial authority is real.

The Journal of Biblical Antiquity and Heritage is recruiting one Managing Editor and three Editorial Board members. JBAH operates within Berean's launch ecosystem, but scholarly publication decisions belong to its Editorial Board—not to Marketing, the Managing Editor, or the founder.

Dual Authority

Marketing grows the Journal. The Editorial Board governs what the Journal publishes.

JBAH is a Marketing initiative at launch, but its scholarly publication authority is protected. The two functions work on the same Journal without absorbing one another's reserved authority.

Board of Directors Corporate authority
Marketing Authority Marketing

Controls audience development, promotion, distribution, campaigns, engagement, conversion, and marketing analytics for JBAH.

Scholarly Authority Editorial Board

Controls scholarly publication decisions and provides the Managing Editor's organizational reporting authority. The Managing Editor works under the Editorial Board while collaborating with Marketing where Journal operation and marketing execution intersect.

Journal of Biblical Antiquity and Heritage One publication · distinct reserved authorities

Marketing does not decide which scholarly articles JBAH publishes. The Editorial Board does not direct JBAH's marketing campaigns, audience strategy, or conversion work.

Journal Operations

Managing Editor

The Managing Editor runs JBAH's editorial and publication workflow. This is a working journal-leadership position requiring strong editorial judgment, substantial writing experience, and the ability to keep manuscripts, authors, reviewers, revisions, production, and publication moving coherently.

Manuscript intake

Receive submissions and coordinate their entry into JBAH's editorial process.

Publishing Mechanics screening

Screen manuscripts for completeness and JBAH's Publishing Mechanics requirements before scholarly evaluation begins.

Organizational reporting

How Publication Decisions Work

Scholarly review is collective and unanimous.

JBAH separates manuscript readiness from scholarly publication judgment. The Managing Editor coordinates the process; the Editorial Board makes the publication decision.

Completeness & Publishing Mechanics

The Managing Editor screens the manuscript for completeness and JBAH's Publishing Mechanics requirements before scholarly evaluation.

Evaluation by all three Editorial Board members

Every manuscript that advances is evaluated by all three members against JBAH's seven scholarly standards.

Unanimous scholarly approval

Publication requires the approval of all three Editorial Board members. The Managing Editor does not vote.

Revision & publication preparation

The Managing Editor coordinates required revisions and production work after the Board's scholarly direction is clear.

Corrections & retractions

The Editorial Board retains unanimous final authority over substantive corrections and retractions.

Work Already Prepared

The inaugural Editorial Board will have scholarship to evaluate.

JBAH already has a substantial prepared inaugural corpus available for independent Editorial Board evaluation.

Material exists. Publication authority still belongs to the incoming Editorial Board.

Professional Service

Berean values the editorial and scholarly work according to the work itself.
