Library Terms

The terms for the free Open Reference Library and the student Library, including resource licenses and your saved study work.

Status

Applies to
Everyone who uses the Open Reference Library or the Berean Library

1. The libraries these terms cover

  • The Open Reference Library is free and open to the public. You do not need an account to read or search it.
  • The Berean Library is a research gateway for searching approved open-access scholarly sources. Access to the student Library is included for eligible Berean students.

2. Licenses and reuse

The Open Reference Library holds public-domain and openly licensed works. Each resource shows its license, its source, and how to credit it.

  • When you reuse a resource, follow its license and keep its credit line.
  • Do not remove license or credit notices.
  • Many Berean Library results open on another website. That website’s own terms apply there.

3. Your account and saved work

An account is optional. If you sign in, you can save a Study List, notes, highlights, Reader settings, and Saved Research.

  • Your saved work is private to your account. Berean does not share it.
  • You can delete your saved work at any time.
  • The Privacy Policy explains how it is stored.

4. Using the Library fairly

  • Use the libraries for study, teaching, and research.
  • Do not use bots or scrapers to copy or download the libraries in bulk without written permission.
  • Searches have limits so the libraries stay fast for everyone.

5. Accuracy

Berean chooses and checks resources with care, but cannot promise that every text, translation, or note is free of errors. Scholarly works state their authors’ views, not necessarily Berean’s. Please report errors so they can be fixed.

6. Changes and availability

Berean may add, update, or withdraw resources, for example when a license changes. The libraries may be unavailable at times for maintenance.

If you believe a resource should not be in the library, see the Copyright & DMCA Process.
