חֵפֶת, חֵפָה f. (חפף I, v. חִיפָּא) border of a garment (limbus), a kind of front bosom in which things can be hidden. Sabb. X, 3 (92ᵃ) ובח׳ חלוקו Ms. M. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note, ed. ובשפת) in the bosom of his shirt. Yoma 77ᵇ ובלבד … מח׳ חלוקו Ms. M. (ed. מתחת ח׳) provided he takes not his hand out of the bosom of his shirt (to throw his cloak over his shoulder). Sabb. 96ᵇ, v. חִיפָּא.—Denom.
