טַרְפָא I, טְרַף ch. same 1) leaf. Targ. Gen. VIII, 11. Targ. Is. XXXIV, 4; a. fr.—Ḥull. 47ᵇ ט׳ דאסא leaf of a myrtle; a. fr.—Nidd. 20ᵃ ט׳ מציעתא fem. (Rashi: מציעא), v. infra.—Trnsf. ט׳ דנחירי wing of the nose. Ber. 55ᵇ.—Pl. טַרְפַיָּא, טַרְפֵי. Targ. Gen. III, 7; a. fr.—Succ. 37ᵇ נתרי ט׳ leaves may fall off. Sabb. 129ᵃ חמרא בר הלתא ט׳ Rashi (ed. בת) wine of a vine that has changed foliage three times, i.e. wine in its third year. Nidd. l. c. טַרְפָן fem., v. דָּרָא I. —2) a piece torn off, fragment. Ber. 59ᵃ top, and it looks כט׳ דטריף like an irregular piece that has been torn off (from the star); Rashi: like a battered piece that has been mended by hammering; (Ms. F. ומתחזי דמיטרפא מיטרף you can see that it has been torn off, Vers. in Rashi: כדטרפא מטרף, prob. to be read כטרפא דמְטַרַף).
