כִּיפְתָא, כֵּיפָא, כִּיפָּא f. ch. = h. כִּיפָּה 1) vault, vaulted chamber; arcade. Y. Snh. VII, 25ᵈ top תפשיתון כיפ׳ the vaulted chamber (in the bath) seized them (kept them spell-bound). Y. Naz. VII, 56ᵃ top כ׳ דקסרין the arcade of the gate of Caesarea (considered unclean); Y. Ber. III, 6ᵃ כִּפְתָה דק׳.—Pl. כִּיפִּין. Targ. II Esth. I, 5, v. כְּפַף. —2) bow, curve. Targ. Job XLI, 12 דעביד כיפא which forms a bow (in boiling over; h. text ואגמן); cmp. כִּיפָּה beg.
