(Ar. דמשתקעא) because the foot is entangled in (sinks into) the sandy soil up to the ankle-band; [oth. vers. in Ar. דמשתקעא כרעא בגווה כי כ׳ (read דמשתרגא) because the foot is entangled in it as if in a foot-chain.]—Pl. כְּבָלִין, כַּבְלֵי.
