כּוּלָב, כּוּלְבָא, כּוּלְבָה m. (v. כָּלַב; cmp. פֶּה, στόμα for edge) a sharp instrument, axe. Targ. I Sam. XIII, 20 (some ed. כלוב׳, Ar. כולכא; h. text קרדם).—Gen. R. s. 38 אייטו לי כולב Ar. (ed. אייתי לי קולב), v. יְטִי.—Lev. R. s. 4 הן די … זיינא כּוּלְבֵיה וכ׳ (not זייניה כולבא) where the owner of arms (warrior) hangs up his battle axe, the shepherd hangs up his bag, i.e. in the place of justice sits wickedness; Koh. R. to III, 16 קולביה; (Yalk. Koh. 969 באתרא … זייניה where the lord hangs up his armor). Y. Naz. I, 51ᵇ כולבה a. כולבא; Y. Ned. I, 36ᵈ top כולכה, v. קַנְתָּא.—Pl. כּוּלְבַיָּיא. Targ. I Sam.
