מַבָּרָא m. (= מעברא; עֲבַר) ferry, ford, crossing board. Ḥull. 94ᵃ עבר במ׳ was crossing on a ferry-boat; Keth. 105ᵇ עבר במ׳ on a board (cmp. גַּמְלָא). Ḥull. 95ᵃ הוה יתיב במ׳ וכ׳ was sitting by the ford of &c., v. אִישְׁתַּטִּית. Ib. 95ᵇ בדיק במ׳ made the readiness of a ferry-boat a foreboding test (whether it was auspicious to undertake the journey).
