מוֹנִיטָא, מוֹנִיטָה f. (moneta) mint; coin, coinage. Ex. R. s. 5. Lam. R. to I, 1 (העיר) חמי הדא מ׳ look at this coin. Esth. R. end מה המלך מ׳ שלו הולכת … כך מרדכי מ׳ וכ׳ as the King’s coinage passed all over the country, so did his (Mordecai’s) coinage &c.; ומה מ׳ שלו and what was the legend of his coinage? Y. Snh. II, 20ᵇ top עדיין מ׳ … קיים (masc.) our lord Saul’s coinage still exists (he is yet king; Midr. Sam. ch. XXIII מטבע). Ex. R. s. 15 מ׳ של אלהיכם בטלה ושלכם קיימת the coinage of your gods is abolished (the Egyptian gods are defeated), and shall your coinage remain (shall you continue to beget)?—Gen. R. s. 37 כל מ׳ של מצרים אינה אלא בים וכ׳ every stamp (names of the descendants) of Mitsrayim is marked with ים (the sea in which they were destined to perish): Ludim (as though) Lude-yam &c.; Yalk.
