עֲשִׂיָּה, עֲשִׂיָּיה f. (preced.) doing, action. Y. Pes. IX, 36ᵈ top (ref. to וחדל לעשות, Num. IX, 13) החדל בשעת ע׳ he who fails (to sacrifice, without being prevented) at the time when the Passover sacrifice is to be done. Ib. חוץ לַעֲשִׂיָּיתוֹ out of the time of doing it. Y. Ab. Zar. IV, 44ᵃ (ref. to Lev. XXVI, 1) ע׳ בתחלה קימה וכ׳ ‘ye shall not make’ refers to the original making and putting up, ‘ye shall not put up’ means that you must not erect it when it has fallen down. Meg. 17ᵃ, a. e. ע׳ celebrating (Purim, Esth. IX, 27), contrad. to זְכִירָה. Sifré Deut. 212 (ref. to Deut. XXI, 12) נאמר כאן ע׳ ונאמרה ע׳ וכ׳ here is an action mentioned concerning the head, and a doing is named concerning the nails מה ע׳ האמורה וכ׳ as the action concerning the head means removing (the hair), so &c.; Yeb. 48ᵃ; a. fr.—Pl. עֲשִׂיּוֹת. Yoma 55ᵃ (ref. to Lev. XVI, 15) שיהיו כל עֲשִׂיּוֹתָיו שוות that all his actions (sprinklings) should be alike. Ib. 71ᵇ, sq.; a. e.—[עשייה, Keth. 53ᵃ, v. עֲשֵׂי.]
