עֵרָבוֹן, עֵי׳ I m. (עָרַב I) mingling, suit of followers. Ab. Zar. 39ᵃ מפני שעֵרְבוֹנָהּ עולה עמה (Rashi to 35ᵇ a. v. והחילק: שעירבונה) because its following goes with it (borrowed fr. Ex. XII, 38), i.e. because all the small fish resembling the ḥilleḳ are packed with it when offered for sale.
