קִטְרוֹן, קִי׳ II m. (a contraction of centurio, κεντυρίων, v. קיּנְטְרִינִים) commander of a century. Sifré Deut. 309 אם היה ק׳ שגדול וכ׳ if it were a centurio who is more powerful than he (the buleutes) &c.; Yalk. ib. 942 קרטון (corr. acc.). Tosef. Sot. XV, 7 (two versions confounded, one having בעל זמורה, and the other קי׳), v. זְמוֹרָה. Yalk. Jer. 321 קרטון (corr. acc.). Tosef. Dem. VI, 3 שוקל לאוצר שוקל לק׳ וכ׳ he that pays taxes to the (Roman) treasurer or to the Centurio, gives first the tithes and pays his taxes (on the remainder). Sifré Num. 131, v. פְּלוֹמוֹפִּילוֹן; Yalk.
