A. pipette, = ὑδράρπαξ , a small vessel with one or more perforations below and an air-vent above, for transferring small quantities of liquid, Emp. 100.9 , Arist. Ph. 213a27 , Pr. 914b9 , al., Hero Spir. 2.27 (described in 1.7 ), Simp. in Cael. 524.19 , in Ph. 647.26 .
II. water-clock, a water-butt with a narrow orifice underneath, through which the water trickled slowly, for measuring periods of time, used to time speeches in the law-courts, Ar. V. 93 , 857 , Arist. Ath. 67.2 , etc.; πρὸς κλεψύδρας ἀγωνίζεσθαι
