:— Arist. HA 617b16 distinguishes three species,κορακίας, λύκος, βωμολόχος(qq.v.): he also mentions a web-footedκολοιός, found in Lydia and Phrygia, which is prob. thelittle cormorant, Phalacrocorax pygmaeus; cf. Ath. 9.395e (citing Ar. Ach. 875 ):—Proverbs:κολοιὸς ποτὶ κολοιόν'birds of a feather flock together', Arist. EN 1155a34 , etc.;κολοιὸς ἀλλοτρίοις πτεροῖς ἀγάλλεται'borrowed plumes', Luc.
