ὄρνις δ' ὣς ἀνοπαῖα διέπτατο,where it is variously written and explained:
1. acc. to Hdn.Gr. 2.133 , it is anAdv.(compd. ofἀνά, Ὄπτομαι), she flew awayunseen, unnoticed;or, acc. to Eust. , = ἄνω, ἀνωφερές ,up into the air,cf. καρπαλίμως ἀνόπαιον

2. acc. to Aristarch. ,ἀνόπαιαorπανόπαια,a kind ofeagle,cf. Hebr.ᾰ̓νᾱπηᾱ'heron'.
3. acc. to Gramm. in An.Ox. 1.83 ,ἀν' ὀπαῖα(͂ ἀνὰ ὀπήν)up by the hoie in the roof, up the smoke-vent.
